Supervisors Hire New Attorney In Regional Airport Case

Mahaska County Supervisor Chair Mark Groendyk at Wednesday’s special meeting.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Supervisors met in special session on Wednesday morning.

A conflict of interest has been brought to the attention of the Supervisors, concerning their attorney who is representing them in the legal battle over the 28E agreement for the new regional airport.

Mahaska County Attorney Andrew Ritland told the Supervisors that he didn’t want to take the case on due to time constraints.

Belin McCormick, the choice of the Mahaska County Supervisors to lead the legal effort going forward for the county, says there are no conflicts of interest in regards to the airport or 28E agreement.

The Supervisors approved the motion to hire Belin and McCormick as their attorney in the regional airport matter.
