Nine Inducted into NM Honor Society

Osky Girls Track And Field Has Successful Scrimmage

The Oskaloosa Girls Track & Field team made a striking impression at the Norwalk Scrimmage on March 15, 2024, under the perfect backdrop of beautiful blue skies and mild spring weather. The athletes didn’t just compete; they excelled, setting nine new personal records across a broad spectrum of events, signaling a season of high expectations and promising performances ahead. In the throwing events, the duo of Rees and Allie Campbell showcased their prowess, both setting new personal bests in the Shot Put and Discus, with Rees launching the discus to an impressive distance of 100-2 feet. Their teammates, Cora Snakenberg and Kara Harman, also made significant improvements, contributing to a dominant showing in the field events. The agility and speed of the team were on full display in the hurdles and sprint events. The 60 m Shuttle Hurdle Relay team, comprising Sadie Blommers, Hannah VanArkel, Kennedy Wright, and Emmalee Wells-Stout, set a new team record, reflecting their synchronization and individual speed. Notably, Wells-Stout blazed through the 60 m Hurdles, setting a personal record that underscored her exceptional talent in the event. Ryleigh Wilken, apart from her achievements in the High Jump clearing 5-2, also excelled on the track, setting a new personal best in the 400 m. This versatility and depth of talent across different disciplines speak volumes about the team’s comprehensive training and dedication. The sprinters, too, left a mark with Miley McCain and Aleigha Sheets leading the charge in the 100 m, each setting personal bests that promise exciting competition in future meets. The relay teams, including the innovative 4x400 COED team, highlighted the collaborative spirit and strategic prowess of the Oskaloosa squad. As the team looks forward to the first outdoor meet of the season at Iowa City Regina, this scrimmage served not only as a testament to their current form but also as a catalyst for further achievements. The coaches' anticipation for having the entire team back at practice is well-placed, given the evident talent and drive displayed by the athletes. With such a promising start, the Oskaloosa Girls Track & Field team is undeniably on a trajectory towards an exceptional season.
