Winter driving conditions lead to single car accident

Iowa State Patrol Squad Car

25 year old Brandi Vink of Pella was traveling south on Highway 14 near the 49 mile marker when she observed oncoming traffic and tried to move over more towards the shoulder.

As she neared the shoulder she encountered snow and slush and lost control of her 2007 Ford, causing it to contact the wire guard rail on the west side of the road.

The 9:30 am December 24 accident caused 4 of the poles of the wire guard rail to be bent, and her Ford suffered some front end damage. No injuries were reported.
