White Scores 17 in Loss to NCAA D-II Foe
Quincy, Ill.–Playing outside the NAIA for the first and only time this season, the William Penn women’s basketball team was defeated 82-51 by NCAA Division II Quincy Tuesday.
The Statesmen (0-9), who were outshot 52.2%-28.8%, actually outscored the Hawks (1-4) by an 8-1 margin at the free-throw line and also committed three fewer turnovers (9-12).
Unfortunately, QU scored the first eight points of the night and led 19-7 after the first 10 minutes of play. It did not get any better for the visiting navy and gold the remainder of the contest.
Zantasia White (Jr., Lubbock, Texas, Secondary Education) paced the Statesmen with 17 points off the bench, including making three of her squad’s five three-pointers. The junior added three steals as well.
The non-starting crew actually accounted for 30 of William Penn’s points with Amanee Clark (So., Waterloo, Iowa, Human Services) next on the scoring list with seven alongside three assists.
Alexis True (Jr., Frankfort, Ky., Exercise Science) and Emma Morts (Jr., Milford, Ill., Business Management) both contributed five points, while Morts also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds. The visitors lost the rebounding battle 47-34, but topped Quincy 12-10 on the offensive glass.
