Upset Moves William Penn Closer to Top 25
Oskaloosa–Taking down the highest-ranked team in the land helped the Statesmen men’s soccer program gain a few spots as the NAIA released its third top-25 poll Wednesday.
Following its upset of then-#1 Missouri Valley, WPU (5-3, 1-1 Heart) advanced four rungs on the rating ladder, up to #27 with 50 points.
William Penn remains one of the six representatives from the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the poll. Central Methodist is the new #1, while Baker has jumped all the way to #8. MVC is down to #10, and MidAmerica Nazarene improves to #19. Grand View continues to join WPU in the receiving votes section at #40.
Central Methodist is first nationally with 497 points and 16 first-place votes, while Keiser, Oklahoma Wesleyan, Columbia (Mo.), and Mid-America Christian (last two national votes) complete the top five.
William Penn returns to Oskaloosa Saturday to host #1 Central Methodist at 5:30 p.m.
