Update on Mall Access Construction Activity

Work is now complete on the new access road to Penn Central Mall and is ready for traffic, in comparrison to this shot taken early on in the construction process

The construction of the new entrance to the Mall on A Avenue West opposite to North A Street is complete and will be open to through traffic on Friday, August 26, 2011. However, there will still be localized controlled areas at the project while crews complete the finishing touches for parking lot and on-street parking pavement striping. The improvements on Mall entrance included pavement reconstruction, storm-water improvements, sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps at intersections, and improved access to parking lot. As a part of these improvements, the existing mall entrance on A Avenue West opposite to North B Street will be permanently closed.
