Stratton, Selemani Claim February Player of the Month Honors

Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the February Player of the Month laurels.

Senior baseball player Chase Stratton (Clearfield, Utah, Sports Management) earned the Male award, while freshman women’s wrestler Mami Selemani (Iowa City, Iowa) claimed the Female honor. The accolade is the first for both individuals.

Stratton pitched just twice during the month, but posted his best performance in the navy and gold in February. Against Northwestern on February 27, the senior tossed his first career no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. For the month, he was 1-1 with a 2.08 Earned Run Average. He struck out 15 and walked five, while allowing opposing batters to hit just .146 against him.

In five competitions (three tournaments), Selemani posted an 11-4 record with three technical falls and one pin. She became the school’s first conference champion by topping the Heart of America Athletic Conference 123-pound standings. The freshman was also second and third in her other two tournaments.
