Runnin’ Rockets compete at Osky Invite

The Runnin’ Rockets competed at the Oskaloosa Invitational on Tuesday. The boys finished 6th of 14 teams while the girls finished 11th out of 11. Coach Comfort had this to say “I really felt the team competed hard today. The kids are learning to push themselves to their limits. We must continue to stay hungry each practice and never be content with where we are at.” In the boys varsity race, Christopher Welch finished 4th with a time of 17:27 to pace the Rockets. Lucas David finished 17th in a time of 18:26, while Steven Donohue (52nd – 20:19), Hunter Wilz (55th – 20:27), and Marshal Wilz (66th – 21:16) rounded out the top 5. Dan Lasley (87th – 23:20) and Bradley Versteegh (95th – 25:16) were the 6 and 7 runners.
Anna Tanner led the girls with a 48th place finish in a time of 19:25. Morgan PettyJohn (65th – 21:01), Dana Armstrong (69th – 21:11), Miranda Clark (72nd – 21:33), and Paige Reck (75th – 21:56) also competed in the girls varsity race. In the boys JV race Andrew Huff finished 59th in a time of 23:03, Nathanial Harris finished 88th in a time of 25:36 and Dylin Ulin placed 102nd with a time of 30:58. The junior highers were in action for the first time. In the boys race Andrew Hart finished 39th in a time of 12:24 over the 1.5 mile course, while Nathanial Bay (12:57) and Logan Street (13:47) finished 55th and 71st respectively. Emily Flaig led the junior high girls with a 27th place finish in 12:33, Grace Lee finished 64th in 15:08, and Mika Farnum finished 112th in a time of 21:22
The Rockets will next compete at the home next week.
