Randy passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday morning; he was 53 years, 3 months and 4 days of age.

Randy was born, September 7, 1959, in Oskaloosa, IA, the son of Norman L. and Dena M. Johnson Roorda. He was a 1977 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Randy furthered his education at Indian Hills Community College, Centerville Campus, studying drafting. He later attended Central College in Pella where he studied advanced drafting. He married Connie Mathes and to that union two children were born. They later divorced.

Randy worked at Pella Corp. from 1978-1993, where the majority of his career was spent in the drafting department. He then went to work as a journeyman in HVAC (heating, ventilating & air conditioning) for multiple companies in the Des Moines area. January 2011, Randy suffered a severe head injury which prevented him from working. Randy was a member of Tri-Luminar Lodge in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He is survived by his daughter, Brandi (Jason) Van Zomeren of Oskaloosa; a son, Christopher (Melissa) Roorda of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren: Seth, Avery, Tatum, Boston and Bailey; his parents, Norm and Dena Roorda of Oskaloosa; three brothers: Mark (Shawna) Roorda of Beacon, IA; Michael Roorda of Fawcett, MO; and Brent Roorda of Oskaloosa; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: will begin at 11 a.m., Sunday morning, December 16, 2012 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 2-4 p.m. to greet visitors.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday morning, December 17, 2012 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Childers of the Gateway Church of the Nazarene officiating.
Interment: Following cremation, a private burial will be held at Forest Cemetery.

Memorials: may be made in his name and will be designated at a later time.
