Moore Named WBCA Honorable-Mention All-American
Oskaloosa–Lakyla Moore (Jr., Norfolk, Neb., Business Management) concluded her 2020-2021 campaign with some national hardware as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced its NAIA All-America teams Monday.
The WBCA awarded 10 players first-team recognition, while 20 additional players, including Moore, were chosen for honorable mentions.
Moore finished the season averaging a squad-best 16.5 points per game in addition to 4.2 rebounds, a team-high 44 steals, 32 assists, and two blocks. She shot 39.8% from the field (31.6% 3-PT) and 68.6% from the free-throw line. The junior, who was sidelined for four of the team’s games, reached double figures in all but one contest this year.
Moore posted a season-best 31 points against Peru State on November 21. Nationally, she ranked 27th with 2.8 steals per game. She is the only representative from the Heart of America Athletic Conference on WBCA’s list.
Imani Guy of Marian (Ind.) was named WBCA Player of the Year, while Sterling Head Coach K.C. Bassett earned Coach of the Year honors.
