Lois Jean Beary, age 93, of Albia, IA, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Monroe Care Center in Albia. Lois was born on May 25, 1928, in Colorado to Archie and Ida Louise (Lenton) Thomas.

Lois grew up attending school in Colorado before moving to California where she graduated high school with the Class of 1945.

She was united in marriage to Martin Mueller who later passed away. Lois married Donald Edward Beary who also preceded her in death.

Lois went to work at General Dynamics as a micro welder in 1970 in California and she and Donald later moved to Albia.

Lois was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia where she loved to sing in the choir with her beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed listening to Nat King Cole and Elvis music as well as crocheting.

Lois is survived by 4 children: Leonard (& Cathy) Coin, Penelope (& John) Woods, Jean Miller, and Marlena (& Scott Farmsworth) Amos; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lois was preceded in death by her husbands, Martin Mueller and Donald Beary; her parents, Archie and Ida Louise Thomas; 2 children, Gerald Coin and Roberta Dunham; 2 great grandchildren; and 8 siblings.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Lois’s family present to greet family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Mark Brandt officiating.

Burial will follow services at the Blakesburg Cemetery in Blakesburg, IA.

A memorial has been established to the Animal Rescue League.
