Koch, Lepper Take Home First Statesmen of the Week Honors of 2022-2023

Oskaloosa–Men’s soccer player Lukas Koch (Sr., Moers, Germany, Sports Management) and women’s volleyball player Corrin Lepper (Sr., Jefferson City, Mo., Biology) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of August 22-28, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

For the second year in a row, Gardner-Collier Jewelry will sponsor the weekly award, which will feature one male and one female athlete. The honorees will be chosen by the William Penn Athletic Communications department.

Koch helped the Statesmen to a 3-1 win over Morningside in its season opener last Saturday. He assisted on the first and third goals of the contest with beautiful passes into the box that were finished by his teammates.

Lepper enjoyed a historic weekend as she led WPU to a 2-2 record at the Aquinas Classic. The senior finished with 28 kills, including a week-high 14 on a .400 attack clip against Indiana-South Bend on Saturday. Her outing the day prior was even more memorable, however, as she eclipsed the 1,000-kill mark with six versus Aquinas. She is the fifth player in school history to tally 1,000 career kills.

For the week, Lepper hit .275 and also managed seven digs and 12 blocks (1 solo, 11 assists).
