Judith Wolvers
Oskaloosa. Judith “Judy” Wolvers, 73, of Altoona and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Friday, December 24, 2010, at the Mercy Hospice House in Johnston. She was born May 13, 1937, at Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret Manley Hall. She graduated from the Tri-County High School with the class of 1955. Early on she worked at Pamco in Oskaloosa for 12 year. On November 25, 1967, she was united in marriage to Jerry Wolvers at Kirksville, Missiouri. Jerry died January 7, 2006. She worked for the Credit Bureau Services of Iowa. She retired from there in the early 1990’s, after 15 years of service. She enjoyed watching television, reading, and actively supported Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Dare, and Families in Action. She delighted in being a wife, mother and especially a grandmother. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Her family includes her two daughters: Debbie Ann Vander Martin of Eddyville, and Connie Sue (& Robert) Edwards of Oskaloosa; a son: Anthony Eugene (& Adenna) Wolvers of Altoona; six grandchildren: Emmett Edwards, Matt Edwards, Lisa Poverud, Coltin, Caleb, Collett Edwards; four great grandchildren: Roan Edwards, Lucas and Jack Poverud, and Madisyn Edwards; a sister and her husband: JoAnn (& Don) Aller of Belle Plaine; two brothers and their wives: Larry (& Pat) Hall of Cedar Rapids, and Manley (& Esther) Hall in Florida; nieces and nephews; and very close friends Arvin and Dena Van Englenhoven.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services for Judy Wolvers will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the College Avenue Friends Church in Oskaloosa with Pastor Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Sixteen Cemetery north of What Cheer. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Tuesday morning after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Tuesday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Oskaloosa Friends Church or Mercy Hospice House at Johnston.
