Oskaloosa–Alyvia Johnson (Jr., Owatonna, Minn., Business Management) collected recognition from her sport’s governing body as the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its NAIA all-region teams Thursday.

Johnson was chosen as a first-team selection in the Midwest Region, giving the junior her first all-region award.

It is the second year in a row that William Penn has claimed all-region accolades as Alyssa Young (Sr., Winter Springs, Fla., Exercise Science) was an honorable-mention pick in 2022.

Johnson wrapped up the 2023 campaign with a team-high 321 kills (3.06 per set) on a .218 attack percentage. She also produced 371 digs (3.53 per set) in addition to 41 blocks, 20 assists, and 20 aces.

The first-team all-Heart of America Athletic Conference honoree tallied a season-best 26 kills against Columbia on October 21 (three times in the 20s), while tallying a year-high 29 digs versus Graceland on October 27. Johnson recorded 14 double-doubles of kills and digs as well and had 16 double-figure kill performances.

Sara Klunder of Missouri Baptist was named Midwest Region Player of the Year, while Freshman of the Year laurels went to Arianna Marino of Park. Chris Nichols (Missouri Baptist) was tabbed as Coach of the Year, and Mateus Martins (Park) earned the Assistant Coach of the Year nod.
