Interpower

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Interpower Corporation opened its doors this Saturday, welcoming the public to learn more about the 40-year-old company.

Bob Wersen started Interpower in 1975, in a small building in Berkeley, California.

During the tours, visitors were able to learn about the business side of the company and the manufacturing process, all with the help of the employees, some as tour guides.

Interpower now has locations in Ames, Lamoni, and the United Kingdom.

Product testing is conducted in Ames, where products are tested “extensively” before the product development continues.

In Lamoni, Interpower has additional manufacturing capacity, and is the location where they produce their extruded shielded cables.

Wersen said that exports are important for Interpower, who directly exports nearly 25% of the company’s output. An additional 50% of their product is ultimately exported as part of another product built by other manufactures. Those manufactures make scientific equipment, along with medical equipment.

Wersen and his wife have continued to invest locally, when in 1999 they started Tassel Ridge Winery.

Tassel Ridge has quickly become an area tourist attraction, that shows continued growth.
