GRINNELL’S WILL FREEMAN ELECTED CHAIR OF NCAA D-III TRACK AND FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY COMMITTEE

Grinnell College Athletics

GRINNELL, Iowa – Longtime Grinnell coach Will Freeman has been elected chairman of the NCAA Division III Track and Field/Cross Country Committee by a vote of NCAA committee members.

A member of the NCAA committee for the past three years, Freeman has been the liaison for cross country and indoor track and also the D-III representative to the NCAA rules committee.

It is Freeman’s second national chair position, having previously been the chair of the coaching education program for USA Track & Field, the ruling body for the sport of track and field in the United States.

The NCAA Track and Field/Cross Country Committee is charged with planning and executing the national championships in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track, as well as serving as the liaison between the coaching community and the NCAA. It is a fitting role for Freeman, as Grinnell will be hosting the indoor NCAA championships for track and field in March of 2012.
