Gerald Foster

September 14, 1925 – December 25, 2010

Gerald Foster, 85, of What Cheer, died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the Mahaska County Hospital. Funeral services will be held privately at a later date. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery at Eddyville. Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer is charge of the arrangements.

Gerald E. Foster was born in Moravia, Iowa on September 14, 1925 the son of Charles Fredrick and Virgie Brown. He was united in marriage to Phyllis I. Johnson on August 30, 1948.Gerald worked as a farm hand for several area farmers as well as operating his own construction business. He was an accomplished wood worker and was very active in the What Cheer Lions Club.

He is survived by his two daughters, Connie (Sid) Kitzman of What Cheer and Bonnie (David) Newcombe of Keller, Texas; his grand children: Nick Slagter and Terry Covert, Tracy and Wayne Van Weelden, Cory and Kolby Kitzman, Danielle and Ted Stevens, Angela Newcombe, Lindsey Newcombe, Chad Covert, Amber Seye, Joe Foster, Clint Foster and Luke Riddle. Gerald also leaves behind nine great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and two brothers, Larry and Gordon Foster.

Gerald is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Johnson Foster, a son, Randal E. Foster and one brother, Charles Junior Foster.
