Former Animal Shelter Director Sentenced

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The former Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter director, Lindsey Sime was sentenced this week in Mahaska County District Court.

Sime pled guilty to the crimes of Credit Card Fraud (Aggravated Misdemeanor) and Theft in the Third Degree in earlier court proceedings.

District Associate Judge Rose Anne Mefford sentenced Sime to two years, less credit for time already served.

“The defendant’s sentence of imprisonment is suspended conditioned on the defendant’s future good behavior, and the defendant is placed on probation to the Court for a period of two years,” explained court documents.

“The defendant shall pay the fine, surcharge, court costs, court-appointed attorney fees, and the restitution in full,” said court documents.

Sime is ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $6,049.45.

The audit of Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter has been completed and the investigation is closed, said Assistant Attorney General Scott Brown.
