A Celebration of Life Service for Dennis Jones, 69, will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 2 PM at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton with a visitation and fellowship time following the service until 5 PM.
Memorials may be made in care of Dennis’ Family.
Dennis was born December 31, 1940 in West Des Moines to Donald and Marian Mitchell Jones. His mother and stepfather Ivan Barger raised him in West Des Moines. Dennis attended Valley High School. He married Phyllis Langford and they were blessed with 2 children: Rick and Terri. Dennis later married Sharon Flanders and they were blessed with a daughter Janessa.
He worked at Pittsburgh Steel in Des Moines as a welder and after moving to Lucas County he worked at the Chariton High School for 5 years and at the Hy-Vee Distribution Center for 15 years. Dennis loved the outdoors. He liked fishing, gardening, yard work, old cars and just tinkering. He also enjoyed Elvis, his music and his personality. He truly loved his family and always enjoyed spending time in Oregon with his children and grandchildren. He was a kid at heart and loved being with all his grandchildren watching them grow and learn new things.
Dennis is survived by his wife Sharon of Derby; children: Rick (Tina) Jones of Oregon, Terri Jones of Oregon, Janessa (John) Millikin of Hamilton, Jeph (Robin) Rose of Chariton, and Jason (Brenda) Crabs of Lacona; 14 grandchildren; an aunt Glenys Mitchell;special niece Amber Flanders; special uncle Bill Jones; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Kay Lankford
