Community Stadium Routes Released

Directions to the Stadium: Take Highway 432 to the roundabout, go North on Orchard, then North on Santa Clara, and West on 238th Street.
The Old Shoe Game will kick-off Friday with the freshman game at 5 p.m. at the new stadium in the Lacey Recreation Complex. The varsity game will follow at 7 p.m.
“Oskaloosa football fans are always excited for the Old Shoe Game as the official start of football season,” said Kevin Pederson, Oskaloosa Athletic Director. “This year is special because the traditional opener will also mark the unveiling of the new stadium.”
“The Old Shoe Game will be a warm up for the staff and volunteers operating the stadium as well as the football players,” Pederson said. “Fans will notice improvements in the facility between the Old Shoe Game and the home opener against Grinnell August 26.”
“We are honored to be the first team to play on the new field which so many volunteers and community members have helped build,” said new Oskaloosa Indian Head Coach Mark Schilb.
Fans are asked to use the route featured here to get to the new stadium. “We are grateful for the Oskaloosa Shooting Team who’ve stepped up to assist with parking,” said Sherry Vavra, Director of the Mahaska Community Recreation Foundation. “If needed, additional parking will be available in other lots at the Lacey Recreation Complex.
A special parking area with views of the field will be available for fans who are unable to get to the stands and need to remain in their cars during the game. Individuals interested in reserving a space in the designated area should call Kevin Pederson, 641-673-4421.
