Oskaloosa–Bri Zerley (Sr., Monroe, Iowa, Biology) headlined an impressive effort by the Statesmen softball team and her efforts helped her to earn Midwest Collegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week honors Monday.

Zerley, now a three-time career honoree, hit .333 as William Penn opened the season 3-2 against some of the top teams in the NAIA at the Gulf Shores Invitational. WPU’s only two losses came against the #1 and #2 programs in the land.

The senior utility player finished 6-for-18 with one double and two home runs. She tallied 11 RBIs and three runs scored, highlighted by six RBIs against #24 South Carolina-Beaufort and four versus #11 Belhaven (Miss.). Zerley posted two multiple-hit showings to open her senior campaign.

The award is the first for William Penn.
