Williams Wins First Career Laurel
Oskaloosa–Shelbie Williams (Jr., Hedrick, Iowa, Elementary Education) claimed gold last weekend and for her efforts she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week Monday.
Williams earned her first career weekly award by taking the shot put title at the Central Dutch Athletics Classic Saturday. The junior was first out of 34 competitors with a toss of 41-10.
Williams, who is a two-time Heart champion in the event, currently ranks second in the league.
It is the first award of the year for WPU.
