Oskaloosa–The Statesmen men’s basketball team will play the role of the hunted at next week’s nationals after the 11th and final NAIA Division II men’s basketball poll was released Wednesday.

Midwest Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament champion William Penn (30-1) is #1 for the third week in a row with 343 points and all 13 first-place votes. The navy and gold are winners of a school-record 16-straight games.

Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) and Northwood (Fla.) are again second and third in the division, while Northwestern, who lost to William Penn back in late December, is fourth. Warner Pacific (Ore.) rounds out the top five. Following its loss to the Statesmen in the tournament finals, MCC foe Mount Mercy fell two spots to 12th.

William Penn will have to wait just more two hours to see who it will meet in the first round of the NAIA Division II National Championships in Point Lookout, Mo.
