Weekly Honor Given to Hood

Oskaloosa–Dexter Hood (Sr., Tuscaloosa, Ala., Wellness and Recreation) put together two strong outings as he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Hood won his first career accolade after guiding the Statesmen to two wins last week.

In a battle of the top two teams in the league, the senior opened his week with a 25-point outing against Peru State. He made nine of his 14 shots and knocked down all five of his free throws.

Against Central Methodist, Hood tallied 19 points and seven rebounds to average 22.0 points for the week.

On the year, Hood leads the Heart with 19.4 points per game, while also averaging a team-high 6.7 rebounds. The senior has amassed 27 assists, 17 steals, and three blocks, while shooting 61.8% from the field (36.4% 3-PT) and 63.5% from the line.

Hood not only tops the conference in scoring, but is second in field-goal percentage and seventh in rebounding average as well.

It is the third award of the year for WPU.
