WARRIORS TO HOST COACHES VS. CANCER NIGHT

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Athletic Department, along with the men’s basketball team has designated the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championship game as Coaches vs. Cancer Night on Saturday, Feb. 26.

The Warriors, who secured home court advantage for the three-team regional tournament, will host the winner of (2) Southeastern Community College and (3) Marshalltown Community College at the Hellyer Center at 7:00 PM on Feb. 26.

“We look forward to teaming up with our visiting opponent on February 26 to support a cause that impacts so many around the world,” stated Dr. Brett Monaghan, Vice President, Student Development & Operations and Athletic Director. “As a collective group of student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans, we can band together to help raise awareness and fight a disease that effects millions of people every year.”

A portion of all ticket proceeds of Saturday night’s game will be donated directly to the American Cancer Society. To consider making a donation to the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative, contact the Indian Hills Athletic Department at 641-683-5288.

“I’m excited that we have the opportunity to help support Coaches vs. Cancer and are able to contribute to a cause that impacts us all,” stated head coach Hank Plona. “Raising awareness and making donations is a great way that all of us can help fight a disease that has impacted so many of us in different ways. I know we will have an outstanding passionate crowd on Saturday, February 26th, and I would ask all of you to help us in this effort in any way that you can.”

Indian Hills fans are also encouraged to wear WHITE to the Feb. 26 game.

The Warriors have one remaining home game prior to the regional title game as Indian Hills hosts No. 10 Triton College (IL) at 7:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 19.

The month of February is annually marked as Coaches vs. Cancer month where teams at all levels raise money and awareness to support the fight against cancer. For over 25 years, the Coaches vs. Cancer program, in collaboration with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, has united coaches and fans nationwide to help the American Cancer Society defeat a common enemy – cancer. Through fundraising and education initiatives, the Coaches vs. Cancer program has supported the American Cancer Society in our efforts to save lives from cancer in the US and worldwide.
