WARRIORS TAKE ICCAC OPENER 49-4

Mason City, IA – No. 1 Indian Hills Women’s Wrestling opened up its 2024-25 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) slate with a dominant 49-4 victory over North Iowa Area Community College.

The Warriors move to 3-0 overall in duals this year and 1-0 in ICCAC action. Indian Hills is now 3-0 all-time vs. NIACC, outscoring the Trojans 132-15 overall.

Indian Hills secured three consecutive victories by forfeit to open the night. The first action of the dual opened up at 124lbs with freshman EmmaLyn Burnett (Kansas City, MO/Platte County) scoring a fall in 46 seconds to pick up her first collegiate dual victory.

Following a forfeit at 131lbs, sophomore Eden Smith (Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) put together a thrilling effort at 138lbs to secure a decision victory for the Warriors. Trailing 8-3 with less than a minute to go in the match, Smith scored a four-point take down before adding two points in the closing seconds to rally for a 9-8 victory. The win pushed the Warriors’ team lead to 28-1.

Ruth Jimenez Batista (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Trina Padilla De Sanz) picked up a fall in 1:30 at 145lbs before freshman Olivia Stean (Bonner Springs, KS/Bonner Springs) produced a fall in 36 seconds at 160lbs for her first collegiate victory.

Indian Hills suffered its lone defeat of the night at 180lbs, but the Warriors responded with back-to-back falls at 207lbs and 235lbs. Ileen Castrejon (Beach Park, IL/Zion-Benton Township) earned a pin in 30 seconds for her first collegiate win before Sha’Niayha Wysinger (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville) closed out the night with the fastest fall of the night at 29 seconds.

The Indian Hills women return to action on November 20 with a men’s and women’s doubleheader dual at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA.
