Steve Deace Speaks At Mahaska County Republican Fundraiser
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Steve Deace was the evenings opening speaker for the Republican fundraiser held at William Penn University. “I am here as someone that has not endorsed a candidate in this process, but I’m very interested in how we, as Iowans, take advantage of the opportunity that we have before us here; the platform that we have.” Deace said during the opening remarks of his speech to the group of Republican supporters.
“Every foundation of this civilization that is traditionally known as America, is either in decline or is gone.” Deace stated about his beliefs in the current political and social environment of the United States.
“The truth of the matter is, this has ceased being about right versus left. It has become right versus wrong.” Deace continued in his speech to the group. “These are absolute standard; they’re not subjective; they’re not well. We’re a family, here in the Republican Party, and because the Democrats are so bad we could just compromise on most every one of our principles; and as long as we kill one less kid and steal one less dollar than the Democrats, are we just [a] little self righteous.” Deace says that that is not the way it works, stating that, “maybe that’s a good fundraising campaign; maybe that’s a good way to draw a crowd; but the bad news is, we don’t have another generation of doing that.”
“No one swore an oath to a political party, or a court opinion, or pubic opinion; they swore an oath under God. And since God is all that is good, and the only one that is good, he defines what is good; not us. It is our compulsion that we must live up to his [God’s] standard, not try to conform him and fashion him to ours.” Deace continued to the group.
“I have had a chance to talk with her [Michele Bachmann] or be in private meetings with her on 2 different occasions. I will tell you, from a depth of world view perspective, she’s the best I’ve seen in the last 2 election cycles. And yes, I’m including Mike Huckabee in that. Her depth of a world view, both as a Christian and as a patriot, is impressive. But you know what? She could be better. She could be better if, you as a voter, you are the customer. She has a product to sell, which is her campaign, and the customer gets what he wants.” Deace told the group at William Penn about his thoughts on Bachmann.
“She can be better. Don’t let her get away with, well, because the rest of the field is so weak she automatically becomes good. That’s justification by comparison, not by an objective standard. She could be really good. There’s times I’ve watched her speak and she’s Margaret Thatcher-esque, and she’s gonna need to be if your gonna make her the President of the United States. Because, just beating Barack Obama will not be good enough. You’re gonna have to fight to repeal and nullify generations of an agenda. If, in the end, all you do is beat Barack Obama and go home and celebrate, that is called a puric victory. We cannot have Washington return power to us if we’re not prepared to govern ourselves.” continued Deauce to the crowd on hand.
