Statesmen Take on National Tournament Course
Columbia, Mo.–The William Penn women’s cross country team got back to work Saturday by running at the site of the NAIA National Championship as it competed at the the Larry Young Invitational hosted by Columbia.
WPU was unable to field a full squad for a score. The Master’s (Calif.) won the team crown with 23 points with Huntington (Ohio) being a distant second at 93.
Hannah Fredericks of TMU won the 5K race with a time of 17:36.7.
Briana Admire (So., Galesburg, Ill., Biology) headlined WPU’s efforts by finishing 95th in a time of 22:55.6. Roselaure Fuller (Sr., Pella, Iowa, Nursing) was close behind in 100th at 23:19.5.
Avery Waterhouse (So., Olds, Iowa, Nursing), in 138th in a time of 26:05.2, and Morgan Taylor (Jr., Galesburg, Ill., Nursing), in 142nd at 26:24.3, concluded the Statesmen competitors.
“It was extremely hot at race time and we saw some very good competition,” Head Coach Caleb Drake said. “We had one lifetime best and a couple of other good performances for this point in the season. We have more work to do, but this race definitely helped us find more specific things to build on.”
Next Up: William Penn is off until Saturday, October 5 when it travels to Cedar Rapids to battle in the Mount Mercy Seminole Valley Stampede at 9:30 a.m.
