Statesmen of the Week: Sectric Cleveland and Alyvia Johnson

Oskaloosa–Football player Sectric Cleveland (Fr., Carver, Ga.) and women’s volleyball player Alyvia Johnson (So., Owatonna, Minn., Elementary Education) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of August 29-September 4, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Cleveland had a big hand in William Penn’s game against Baker last Saturday. While he tallied five tackles (2 solos, 3 assists) and a pass breakup on defense, his biggest impact came on special teams as he blocked a field-goal attempt in the second quarter and returned the ball 55 yards for a touchdown.

Johnson posted 40 kills (2.67 per set) last week, while also recording 56 digs (3.73 per set). The sophomore managed 10 blocks (2 solos, 8 assists), five aces, and four assists as well. Her top performance came against Hannibal-LaGrange last Saturday when she notched 16 kills and 11 digs. She tallied two double-doubles (kills and assists) as William Penn hosted the Jimmy John’s Classic.
