Sara was born December 14, 1975 in Grinnell, Iowa to Dennis Wells and Carla Dean (Clark) Rankin. She was raised in Lineville and graduated from Lineville-Clio High School with the class of 1994. She then worked at the Lamoni Youth Shelter in Lamoni, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Samuel Eldon Walkup on May 5, 2001 in Lineville. She became a wife and later a mother to their three children, Wilbur “Wil”, Emma, and Maxwell “Max”. She was a homemaker and also ran Sara’s Home Day Care for three years.
Sara was an active member of the Lineville United Methodist Church, the Princeton Mother’s Club, and the Princeton PTO. She and Sam coached little league tee ball for five years. She also enjoyed scrap booking in her free time. Her family was her life and her kids were everything to her.
Survivors include her husband Sam Walkup and their children, Wil, Emma, and Max, all of Princeton; parents, Dennis and Carla Rankin of Lineville, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jason and Melanie Rankin and their children, Abby and Mikayla of Merriam, Kansas and Nathan and Katy Rankin and their children, Dennis and Jordan, of New Virginia, Iowa; mother-in-law Helen Walkup of Humeston, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David Wall of Mission, Kansas, Duane and Cindy Wall of Blockton, Iowa, Doug and Julie Wall of Rensselaer, Indiana, Drexal and Laura Wall of Blockton, Gary Clear of Afton, Iowa, Tina and Lonnie Trailkill of Eagleville, Missouri, and Tom Walkup of Humeston; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many, many friends. Sara was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. She will be sadly missed. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Gerald and Pauline Rankin; father-in-law Wilbur “Willie” Walkup; sister-in-law Debbie Clear; and niece Ellie Walkup.
