Robert Baughman, 81, of Delta, died Sunday, February 14, 2021, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. He was born January 13, 1940, at the family home in Deep River, Iowa.

Robert graduated from the Delta High School.

On June 18, 1966, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Boomershine at the Delta Christian Church in Delta, Iowa. Cheryl died on July 14, 2020.

Robert worked in maintenance and housekeeping at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, until his retirement.

He was a member of the Delta Christian Church in Delta. He and Cheryl enjoyed dancing, collecting salt and pepper shakers and other glassware, and tending to their flower garden.

His family includes his two sisters, Mary Etta Johnson of Oskaloosa and Eileen Beattie of Nashville; two brothers-in-law, Dennis and Ray Boomershine of Oskaloosa: and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Cheryl, Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Amy Baughman and Bertha Baughman; a brother, Dwight Baughman; and two brothers in law, Harry Johnson and Ken Beattie.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Bringman officiating.
Burial will be in the Garrett Cemetery near Delta. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
The funeral will be posted to the Bates Funeral Chapel’s YouTube page for those unable to attend.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11.
