RING LANDS SECOND ICCAC WEEKLY HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Chiang Ring (Minneapolis, MN/Murray State) of the No. 9 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men’s Basketball squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Ring lands his second ICCAC honor of the year after leading the Warriors to a dominant victory in the team’s lone matchup last week. Indian Hills rolled past Lincoln Trail College (IL) at the Hellyer Center 87-54 to move to 8-1 overall on the year. With the win, the Warriors jumped five spots in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men’s Basketball Poll.
Ring led the way for the Warriors against Lincoln Trail with his second consecutive double-double, posting game-high totals of 16 points and 10 rebounds. The sophomore forward added a pair of blocks while shooting 75.0 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from three-point range.
On the year, Ring leads the ICCAC in rebounds/game (6.9) and field goal percentage (59.7 percent). Ring’s 11.3 points per game ranks fifth overall in the league standings.
The Warriors are back in action with a full slate of games at the Hellyer Center this week. The Warriors will host John Wood Community College (IL) at 7:00 PM Wednesday night followed by the Norris Asphalt Classic all weekend long. Indian Hills will host Lake Region State College (ND) at 7:00 PM Friday night at North Dakota State College of Science at 3:30 PM Saturday.
