Osky Freshman Football Win Over Ottumwa

by Todd Miller

The Oskaloosa Freshman football team had their first game against Ottumwa on Friday night and ended up winning by a score of 53-0.

The Defense came ready to play as they held Ottumwa to 10 yds rushing and 25 yards passing on the night while constantly giving the Indian’s offense a short field to the endzone. Leading the way for the Indians on the tackle chart was Kaiden Parker(12), Parker Jordan(12), Trey Parks(8), Landon Romas(8), Max Roach(6), Brock Beerbower(5), Iestyn Buchanan(5), AJ Walker(4), Heavon Knox (4), Cash Hall(4), and 6 other players with at least 1 tackle (Kayne Boender, Elijah Roy, Hayden Palmer, Omar Garcia, Holden Braundmeier, and Maddux Maxwell.

The Freshman offense started fast scoring on every possession and scored on a punt return and a fumble recovery. The O-line played a great game as Trevin Griffin, Bryson Ayala, Maddux Maxwell, Hayden Palmer, and Trey Parks, took care of business opening huge holes for the running backs and gave the QB time he needed to throw the ball. 9 different players scored for the Indians on the night. Kayne Boender and AJ Walker both scored rushing touchdowns, while Max Roach, Heavon Knox, Iestyn Buchanan and Kaiden Parker all had receiving touchdowns thrown to them by Kayne Boender. Kaiden Parker also scored a touchdown on a nice punt return and Holden Brandmeier perfected a scoop and score from the defensive side of the ball. Linus Morrison was able to hit the first 5 PATs to finish out the scoring on the night.

Next up for the Freshman Indian football team is Knoxville on Friday night starting at 4:45.
