OSKALOOSA, IOWA—Oskaloosa Schools is set to celebrate the completion of extensive renovations to its high school baseball diamond with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, May 13, 2024. The event, which will include the first games played on the new synthetic turf, is open to the public and will take place at 1816 N 3rd St, Oskaloosa, IA 52577, starting at 7:15 p.m.

The upgraded facility boasts more than 115,000 sq. ft. of synthetic turf, new backstops, bullpens, fencing, an automated sports broadcasting technology, and an enhanced LED lighting system. These improvements aim to boost both the safety and playability of the field, reflecting the district’s commitment to providing high-quality sports facilities for students.

The evening will kick off with media tours of the new diamond, giving attendees the opportunity to see the upgrades up close and hear from students, staff, parents, and community partners involved in the project. The formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 7:20 p.m., followed immediately by a varsity baseball game against Albia at 7:30 p.m.

This project was made possible through collaborations with key partners including Musco, Iowa Sports Turf, and Veenstra Construction. The community is encouraged to come out, enjoy the new facilities, and support the Oskaloosa boys’ varsity baseball team as they debut on their new home field.
