Oskaloosa Girls Track Earns Two Titles, Multiple PRs at Tulip Time Relays

Pella, Iowa — On a windy spring evening, the Oskaloosa girls track and field team delivered a strong showing at the Tulip Time Relays hosted by Pella High School, earning two individual event victories and setting a number of season and personal bests across the board.

Leading the way for the Indians were Delaney Harbour and Tierney Carter, who each claimed first-place finishes in their events. Harbour won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 3 inches, while Carter raced to victory in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.85.

Relay teams added to Oskaloosa’s point total in a competitive field of large and mid-sized schools. The sprint medley relay team of Vivian Bolibaugh, Monica Hundley, Miley McCain, and Harbour earned second place with a time of 1:58.15, highlighted by a strong anchor leg. The 4×200 relay squad — made up of the same four athletes — finished third with a season-best time of 1:54.33.

The distance medley relay team of Kylynne Roberts, Mia Luck, Hannah VanArkel, and Alyssa Sheets also notched a season best on the night, contributing valuable points to Oskaloosa’s team total. The Indians finished 5th overall in the team standings with 70.5 points.

Individual highlights included personal records from Miley McCain in the 200 meters (29.4), Vanessa Beadle in the 100 meters (14.91), and Hannah VanArkel, who posted a new PR in her 400-meter relay split. Emmalee Wells-Stout placed 5th in the 400-meter hurdles and Kennedy Wright competed in both the shot put and hurdles.

Oskaloosa now shifts its focus to the Grinnell Tiger Relays, scheduled for Tuesday night, where the team hopes to build on the momentum of a productive night in Pella.
