The Oskaloosa City Band performs each Thursday at 8pm in the evening during summer.

The Oskaloosa City Band will perform in the bandstand on the square at 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. Director, Bruce Peiffer returns tonight to conduct the band.

Along with Mr. Peiffer’s return, the traditional “fiery overture based on a western theme” is back and this week’s feature is “The Magnificent Seven”. Other highlights include: “Free World March” by Karl King, “Loch Lomond”, “The Great Highland Pipes”, “Semper Fidelis” by John Philip Sousa, “Stranger On The Shore”, and “Circus Days”. Jazz music lovers will enjoy “Sultana” by Phillip Wise and Michael Brown’s arrangement of “St. Thomas”.

The band plays a special song each week to celebrate special occasions. Audience members are encouraged to hand a note to a band member if they would like to recognize someone celebrating a special event.

There will be a schedule change next week due to RAGBRAI. The band will perform at 6 p.m. on July 25 featuring music by C.L. Barnhouse Co.
