Oskaloosa Boys Drop Two Duals at Norwalk; Dye, Shaffer, Jordan, Smith Go 2-0

The Oskaloosa boys wrestling team traveled to Norwalk on Tuesday night for a varsity double dual and JV action.

In varsity duals, Oskaloosa faced Norwalk and Carlisle. The Indians lost both matches, falling to Norwalk 51-27 and losing to Carlisle 48-26. Despite the team losses, Oskaloosa had four wrestlers go 2-0 on the night: Emmett Dye, Colton Shaffer, Parker Jordan, and Kyron Smith.

JV wrestled Norwalk and Carlisle as well, and also added Newton in the mix. Oskaloosa had two JV champions on the night. Trey Parks placed first and won his match by fall over Jackson Limbo of Newton in 2:28. Faron Markwick also placed first, earning a pin over Matthew Robinson of Carlisle in 4:56.

Oskaloosa also had several JV runners-up finishes. Wesley Nelson placed second after a loss by technical fall to Quinten Gonzalez of Norwalk, 17-0. Evan Allison placed second after a loss by major decision to Ryan Yeager of Norwalk, 14-5. Thomas Castaneda placed second after a loss by fall to Gavin Dean of Newton in 0:17.

Landon VanDonselaar’s final result was listed as a double forfeit in his first-place match against Kolton Rice of Carlisle.

Isaiah Williams also competed for the Indians, with his placing not listed in the results provided.

The Indians will be back on the mat Thursday night in Pella and again Saturday in Pella.
