Chicago, Ill.–The William Penn women’s soccer team held together for 110 minutes to post a strong result versus a solid opponent, tying Robert Morris 0-0 Saturday.

Despite being outshot 19-5 by the Eagles (1-0-1), the Statesmen (1-0-1) remain unbeaten in 2018. It is the second year in a row that WPU has gone undefeated through two contests (2-0 last year).

Three of the team’s attempts were on goal, including two by Raunice Butler (Sr., Nassau, Bahamas, Physical Education) (three total) and one by Tori Teanio (Fr., Hilo, Hawaii, Physical Education) in overtime.

Hayley Brothers (Bonner Springs, Kan., Exercise Science) managed her second-straight shutout to begin her collegiate career as she finished with seven saves.

“I am very proud of how our ladies played today,” Head Coach Jaymee Highcock said. “We left everything on the field and fully deserved to get the tie. I believe we were the stronger team in overtime and were close to winning the game. Two shutouts to open the year is a good position to be in.”

Next Up: William Penn travels to Kansas City, Mo. next Saturday to face Avila in non-conference action at 2 p.m.
