Miner Garners First Heart Accolade
Oskaloosa–Men’s bowler Jayson Miner (Sr., Silvis, Ill., Business Management) and women’s bowler Alexis Lake (Sr., Kaysville, Utah, Nursing) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of November 28-December 4, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
Miner finished eighth out of 276 players with a 218.5 average (1,311 pins) at the Warhawk Open last weekend. He was a bit slow at the beginning with a 179, but was electric after that, including a 229 in the second round. That started a string of five-consecutive games over 200 with a high of 237 in the third round. Miner’s 218.5 tournament average is the highest for WPU this year.
Lake placed third out of 195 players with a 204.5 average (1,227 pins) at the Warhawk Open. She opened with a 208, one of four times she eclipsed the 200 mark. Lake’s top round came in the fourth game when she posted a season-high 236.
