Oskaloosa–Haley Smith (Sr., Adrian, Mich., Elementary Education) and Ashley Miller (Sr., Kalona, Iowa, Exercise Science) were instrumental in helping their team to one of its best weekends in recent history as they earned Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week awards Monday.

Smith was named Heart Setter of the Week for the first time ever, while Miller notched her sixth Heart Defender of the Week career accolade (first this year). The duo led William Penn to a 3-1 record; WPU is now 5-3.

Smith posted 70 total assists (5.8 per set) in the two-setter lineup. The senior also managed one kill, 16 digs, and one ace. She topped out with 27 assists against Haskell in addition to seven digs.

For the year, Smith has 156 assists (5.8 per set) in addition to four kills, one ace, and 43 digs.

Miller was good for 99 digs (7.1 per set) in addition to seven assists and six aces. She also suffered just two reception errors in 84 total attempts (.976 reception clip).

For the season, the senior has 180 digs (6.2 per set), while also recording 26 assists and 13 aces.

The awards give WPU three for the year.
