Men’s Wrestling 50th Anniversary Team: #41-50

Oskaloosa–William Penn began sponsoring men’s wrestling as an intercollegiate sport in the 1970-1971 school year. Fifty years later, the program is still going strong with exceptional student-athletes adding to the history every campaign. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, the William Penn Athletic Communications department has constructed a list of the top 50 wrestlers of all-time.

The following grapplers are ranked from #41-50 on that list.

(#41) Joe Caloia (1983-1986)–Conference champion, national qualifier (NCAA Division III)
(#42) Marty Usman (2007)–Regional champion, national qualifier
(#43) Melvin Bell (2008)–Regional champion, national qualifier
(#44) Omar Ortiz (2004-2006)–Regional champion, national qualifier
(#45) Severin Walsh (2001-2002)–Regional champion, national qualifier
(#46) Brian Fox (1979-1982)–Two-time national qualifier (NCAA Division III)
(#47) Ryan Groom (2009-2010)–Two-time national qualifier
(#48) T.J. Stuart (2006, 2010)–Two-time national qualifier
(#49) Gerry Piddington (1974)–National qualifier (NCAA Division III)
(#50) Tom Carbajo (1977-1979)–National qualifier (NCAA Division III)

Congratulations to the aforementioned individuals!

Note: As with all recognition lists of this nature, they are not perfect and are subject to scrutiny. In the end, we just want to spotlight the incredible former student-athletes who represented the navy and gold.
