Loren Evan Bragg, 74, of Barnes City passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Loren Evan Bragg, the son of Dewey and Lera Racher Bragg, was born on March 4, 1941 at Central City, Iowa.
Loren attended Springville school through the 8th grade. He was united in marriage to Janice Louise Willey in 1959 and to this union came two sons and a daughter.
Loren started his working career farming, then drove truck and for forty years worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a former member of the Local 234 Operators Union.
Loren enjoyed raising Morgan horses and anything involving horses. He took pride in his team and looked forward to sharing his knowledge with his grandchildren. Loren was a man who found value in a honest day’s work, even if it meant from sun up to sun down.
Loren will be remembered as ornery, stubborn, and bullheaded but most importantly as a man who loved his family unconditionally.
His legacy will be cherished by his wife Janice Vine of Barnes City; a daughter, Lera Louise Bragg of Barnes City; three sons: Leland (& Lauri) Bragg of Anamosa, Leslie (& Renae) Bragg of Anamosa and Chad (& Kelly) Siebels of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Jean (& Don) Miller of Mechanicsville; and a brother, Robert (& Sharon) Bragg of Sacramento, CA. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Loren is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, James Clark.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mechanicsville.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
