Linda Sue DeBoef
May 26, 1953 – August 25, 2022
New Sharon, Iowa | Age 69

Linda DeBoef, 69 of New Sharon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at her home in New Sharon. Linda Sue DeBoef was born to Donald and Joyce (Scott) Baker on May 26, 1953 in Houston, Texas.

Upon graduation from Oskaloosa High School in 1972, she attended the Apostolic Bible Institute in Oakdale, MN.

Linda was united in marriage to the love of her life, Duane DeBoef, on April 6, 1974, and the two made their home in various cities across Iowa, Illinois, and Texas.

A mother of six, Linda was a homemaker for most of her life and kept busy taking care of her large family.

Linda’s faith was everything to her, and she shared the Gospel with anyone that would listen. Her greatest desire was that her children and grandchildren would know and love Jesus and follow Him faithfully. From childhood, Linda was an active member in every church she ever belonged to, and she always found herself heavily involved in the women’s ministries. Her ladies teas and brunches are things of legend, and her infectious laugh and wicked sense of humor will be greatly missed amongst her church family.

Linda was multi-talented and loved to play the piano and paint. From 1996-2000 she had the unique experience of serving as a D.J. for KCWN radio station in Pella where she was best known for her hit show “Linda Sue from 10 to 2.” She was a whiz in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking and baking for her ever-expanding family. She was an avid horse lover and enjoyed barrel racing in her youth. She had many pets throughout her life, and she treated them as part of the family (much to some of the family’s chagrin). Her favorite color was yellow, and she loved her coffee time so much that she became an honorary barista at her daughter’s coffee shop, The Coffee Closet. She lived for camping, traveling the world, and riding motorcycles with Duane and their biker gangs. Family was the joy of Linda’s life, and she cherished spending time with them (especially her grandchildren).

Linda’s legacy is honored today by her husband, Duane DeBoef of New Sharon; her children: Jeanetta (& Dan) Anderson of Independence, KS, D.J. (& Tamara) DeBoef of Ankeny, Dusty (& Dawn) DeBoef of New Sharon, Derrick (& Danielle) DeBoef of Geneseo, IL and Delayna (& Eric) Sneed of New Sharon; her son-in-law, Scott Fischer; 17 grandchildren: Benjamin, Samuel (& Emma), Cody, Jayden, Grace (& Christopher), Savannah (& Aidan), Ellie, Alexa, Dinah, Dawson, Dominic, Drayton, Drayana, Dylon, Davin, Mekaiya, and Isaiah; and dozens of adopted grandchildren at the Legacy Home Orphanage in the Philippines; her brothers, Kelly (& Cheri) Baker of Waukee and Lonnie Baker of the Quad Cities; and many other relatives and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Joyce Baker; parents-in-love, Arthur, Jeanetta, and Velma DeBoef; and her daughter, Carol “Angel” Fischer.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30am on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon.
Visitation will begin at 12:00pm on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm to greet friends and relatives.
