Linda McGinity, age 73, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 26, 1947 the daughter of Donald and Mildred (Davis) Schott in Iowa City, Iowa.
Linda attended Sigourney High School and graduated with the Class of 1965.
On September 19, 1965 she was united in marriage to Raymond McGinity in Oskaloosa. To this union 4 children were born, Stan, Michelle, Toni and April.
After high school, Linda worked at the overall factory in Oskaloosa before taking a job at Rolscreen (now Pella Corp) in Pella for 10 years. She later took a job as manager at Penn Central Video in Oskaloosa before managing the Penn Central Theater. She also worked at Mahaska Bowl and the water slide that was directly next to the bowling alley. Lastly, she worked at Casey’s before retiring in 2005 due to ill health.
Linda had a love of computer games and video games in general. She enjoyed softball and coached her children in little league. She also enjoyed fishing, bowling and was a member of the 500 Club. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family.
Linda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond McGinity of Oskaloosa; her children: Stan (& Rhonda) McGinity of Oskaloosa, Michelle (& Bernard) Vinton of Oskaloosa, Toni (& Al) Cerwinske of Delta and April (& Adam) Siggins of Atlantic; her grandchildren: Colter Vinton, Alyssa (& Josh Hickenbottom) Vinton, Kyle (& Brea Wininger) Vinton, Chelsea (& Kolby Starit) Vinton, Eric (& Kaylee) McGinity, Lexi McGinity, Jordan Hartwig, Dakota Templeman, Austin (& Emily) Roe, Brad Roe, Liz Siggins, Chris (& Shelby Anderson) Siggins, Ethan Siggins, Rickie Siggins, Devon Siggins and Steve Janak; 8 great grandchildren; her sisters, Sherry (& Joe) Ladely of Delta and Lori (& John) Wolski of Florida; and a brother, Harlan (& Sheryl) Miller of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Martha Anderson; her step-father, Smokey Miller Sr.; and two brothers, Willard “Smokey” Miller Jr. and Alan Miller.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with Pastor Molly Goodrich officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel.
