Keith Alan Kopp, 63, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Keith was born April 16, 1952, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Loran John and Lillian Esther Harms Kopp.
Keith graduated from Buffalo Center High School with the class of 1970. While in high school he participated in football, basketball, track and band.
Following graduation, Keith attended NIACC in Mason City. He continued his education at South Dakota State University, graduating from the College of Pharmacy there in 1975.
Following graduation, Keith worked as a pharmacist at Gag Drug in Marshall, Minnesota. Later he took the pharmacist position at Drug Town in Mason City, Iowa. Keith had a great passion for helping customers with their care needs. He made many great friends during his time in Mason City.
In 2004, Keith moved to Oskaloosa to work with his sister Jane at Mahaska Drug. His passion for helping customers continued in Oskaloosa. He quickly made friends in Oskaloosa. Keith always made things interesting for his co-workers. He always had a smile on his face and was always willing to listen to his customers’ health care needs.
Keith was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa and the Iowa Pharmacy Association.
Keith enjoyed hunting and fishing, he especially enjoyed many fly-in trips to Trout Lake in Canada with his family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing and woodworking. Every year Keith looked forward to helping on the Mahaska Drug float for the Oskaloosa Lighted Christmas Parade. He also enjoyed going to auctions and looking for unique antiques that he could add to his collection. Keith was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed attending events at the University of Iowa.
Keith will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a strong faith. He had a great passion for life. He was a great brother and friend to many. He delighted in spending time with his family. He always made time to visit with those around him and he never met a stranger.
His family includes his sister, Jane (& John) Nicholson of Oskaloosa; a brother, David Kopp of Buffalo Center, Iowa; two nephews: Steven Kopp of Mason City and Thomas Kopp of Mason City; he is also survived by many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a brother, Carlyle Kopp; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 1, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend John Spiegel officiating.
Burial will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Graceland Cemetery at Buffalo Center, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Keith Kopp Memorial Fund.
