John Michael Montgomery to Perform First in Concert Series

NEWTON, Iowa (March 12, 2015) – Iowa Speedway is ready to turn up the volume on its race weekend entertainment lineup by announcing John Michael Montgomery as the first act of its 2015 NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series. Montgomery will rock the stage overlooking Turn 4 on May 16.

Montgomery’s performance will follow the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Casey’s General Stores 150 Saturday night, prior to the only NASCAR XFINITY Series race to take place on a Sunday in 2015. In 2014, Montgomery’s older brother Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry (Montgomery Gentry) energized fans during Wide Opening Weekend, and this year, John Michael Montgomery will look to do the same. The Stringtown Records and Kentucky-born artist will perform songs from his most recent album, Time Flies, including the single “All In A Day.”

“John Michael Montgomery is an exciting performer, and we are pleased to have him kick off Wide Opening Weekend and the NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series at Iowa Speedway,” said Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small. “Our fans asked for more entertainment, and we are delivering it! With good music and even better racing, Iowa Speedway is the place to be this summer.”

Having sold over 16 million albums, which include 15 No. 1 singles, Montgomery is known for his baritone voice, emotional lyrics and connection with his fans. The recording industry also has recognized Montgomery’s success, presenting him with four ACM Awards, three CMA Awards and two Grammy nominations during his career.

Montgomery’s performance will be free of charge to fans with a May 16, May 17 or weekend race ticket. Live music will play a significant part in the fan experience during the 2015 season at Iowa Speedway. The remainder of the NAPA Auto Parts Concert Series will be announced soon, and will include a wide variety of music genres.
