House Fire Results In Injury For Resident

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Fire Department was called to a house fire at 1016 North H St at approximately 6:15 p.m. in Oskaloosa on Sunday. A male resident was sent to the hospital with injuries. Witnesses say that Rob Lines was transported to Mahaska Health Partnership, and transferred by Life Flight shortly after.

The fire is reported to have started in the bedroom of the single story home. Lines is reported to have entered the bedroom to extinguish the fire on a mattress. According to reports, the children and their mother escaped but that Rob had become trapped in the bedroom. His wife Andrea is said to have rushed back into the burning home and pulling her husband to safety.

Mahaska Health Partnership, Oskaloosa Police, Mahaska Country Sheriff’s Department, and 3 trucks from the Oskaloosa Fire Department all responded to the scene.

Mid-American Energy arrived after the fire was contained to turn off the electricity and the gas service to the home.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and Osky News will pass along new information as it becomes available.
