A group of High School students who have all participated in events at the Lacey Recreation Complex volunteered to decorate a bike for MCRF to enter into the ongoing RAGBRAI bike contest. “The youth met here and came up with a plan last week, said Sherry, Executive Director of MCRF. “The plan was really good so I got the supplies needed and they came back tonight to create! They got a little messy with paper mache but I could tell they were having fun, laughing and joking and I can actually see the plan coming together and looking good!” she added. Other than a small amount of prep work, the youth will complete the bike all by themselves. Courtney Fiechtner stated, “We are happy to be volunteers for RAGBRAI and since we are not going to be around for the actual event we wanted to help out wherever we could. Sam Braundmeier added, We really like the complex and wanted to volunteer for MCRF’s bike,” with Grace Vavra chiming in,” most of us are involved in sports or things at the complex and we love what they are doing out here so we want to help.” Volunteers for the bike decorating for MCRF are David Anderson, Andrew Brouwer, Samantha Braundmeier, Claire Carmicheal,Courtney Fiechtner, Jeremy Hartl, Hannah Hirl, Emileigh Klucas, and Grace Vavra. Any business or individual can participate and have their decorated bikes on display along the RAGBRAI route coming into Oskaloosa. For more information call the chamber or MCRF.
