Harold “Andy” Smith, 62, of Tracy died Saturday, July 20, 2019, at his home in Tracy. He was born Thursday, May 16, 1957, in Woonsocket, South Dakota, the son of Harold Wayne and Ila Mae (Goudy) Smith.

Andy attended Webster High School in South Dakota and graduated with the Class of 1975.

Andy worked as a meat packer in South Dakota for a short time before moving to Iowa. He worked as a welder at Vermeer Manufacturing and Van Gorp’s.

He enjoyed working on cars and other outdoor projects, attending sporting events, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

His family includes three children: Christopher Smith of South Dakota, Taylor Smith of Ames, Iowa and Lindsey Smith of Dutton, Alabama; his four brothers: Robert Smith of South Dakota, Michael (& Rae) Smith of South Dakota, Patrick (& Tracy) Smith of Wisconsin and Michael Welch of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Wayne and Ila Mae Smith.

As was his wish, Andy’s body has been cremated.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
No visitation has been planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
