Marion, Ind.–Gabriel Green (Jr., Anniston, Ala., Anniston HS) came within a split second of netting his first career All-American award at the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Green, who qualified in the 100 and 200-meter dash events, had a little more success in the longer race.

The junior completed Thursday’s preliminary 100 in 11.19 seconds to qualify in 17th place. Later that day, Green also advanced to the 200’s semifinals with a 15th-place showing of 22.18 seconds.

Friday’s 100 semifinal witnessed the Statesmen sprinter get to the line a little quicker at 10.93 seconds, but the time unfortunately was again 17th, leaving Green out of finals.

His nationals experience ended Saturday with a 200 semifinal time of 22.08 seconds, good for 11th overall. The top nine racers moved onto the finals with the final qualifying time at 21.75 seconds.

Jalen Wilson (Fr., Desoto, Texas, Duncanville HS) appeared at nationals as well, but failed to move past the preliminary round with an 18th-place long jump of 21.6.25.
